Mi’Kira joined LaFargue in 2025, bringing a dynamic blend of expertise in education, strategic communications, and people-centered leadership to spark meaningful organizational and community transformation. With a proven record of leading high-performing, cross-functional teams, designing and delivering impactful training programs, and aligning initiatives with stakeholder priorities, she crafts a personalized, results-driven approach that consistently elevates client success.
Mi’Kira began her career as a first-grade teacher in Newark, NJ, where she discovered a passion for creating innovating learning experiences and customizing solutions to fit individual needs. Returning to her hometown of Monticello, Arkansas in 2021, she served as a Graduate Assistant in the Office of Student Activities at the University of Arkansas at Monticello before being elevated to the role of Interim Director. Through her work leading university-wide initiatives, she honed her skills in project management and stakeholder engagement by fostering student leadership and increasing campus involvement with creative programming.
In 2021, Mi’Kira relocated to Baton Rouge where she joined City Year serving the organization in several capacities. During her time as Impact Manager, Mi’Kira led a team of AmeriCorps Members through the implementation of school-based initiatives, from peer tutoring programs to large-scale school events. As a key liaison between the school and her team, Mi’Kira played a vital role in building strategic partnerships that aligned school goals with impactful outcomes for both students and Corps members. Following her success as Impact Manager, Mi’Kira was charged with designing and implementing a year-long learning strategy as the organization’s Learning and Development Manager. The strategic plan featured initiatives like a job shadowing program, college readiness tours and education, and monthly professional development sessions. Throughout her entire career with City Year, Mi’Kira facilitated key efforts across the organization to equip AmeriCorps Members with the tools and skills needed to elevate student achievement and their own professional growth.
Mi’Kira earned her Bachelor of Arts in Strategic, Legal, and Management Communication from Howard University, followed by a Master’s in Education Policy and Leadership from American University. She is an active member of the Baton Rouge Chapter of the Association for Talent Development and a proud graduate of the Forum 225 Barton Leadership Academy. Beyond her professional pursuits, Mi’Kira is an enthusiastic hobby-hopper who loves discovering new creative outlets and traveling alongside her husband, Chris.
